Welcome to my blog. When it comes to taking care of appliances, it can be an art. You have to use them correctly, know how to look for signs of trouble and understand how to do simple repairs. Hi, my name is Kelsey, and in this blog, I am going to write everything I know about appliances and related topics. This is my first blog, but I have written in many other types of venues before -- I'm even old enough to have had a 'zine (if you can believe that). I live with my husband, my three daughters, and our dog. Cleaning pet hair of of the dryer and repairing blades on the blender has become my specialty over the years. Enjoy reading!
Your refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in a restaurant. Not only does it keep your food cold or frozen, but it also helps preserve it. That's why it's important to properly maintain your refrigerator so that it can continue to function at its best. Here are some issues a refrigerator maintenance service should look out for:
In most cases, leaks are caused by a loose hose or gasket. To fix a loose hose, the commercial refrigeration maintenance service will tighten the clamps that secure it to the fridge. If the gasket is damaged, you'll need to replace it.
To do this, they will remove the old gasket and install a new one in its place. Once they've fixed the leak, they will clean up any water that has pooled on the floor. If not cleaned up promptly, this water could lead to mold or mildew growth.
Another common issue is frost buildup. Frost can cause the fridge to work harder than usual, which can lead to an increase in your energy bill. To defrost the fridge, they will unplug it and prop open the door.
Let the frost melt on its own; do not use any sharp objects to speed up the process as this could damage the fridge. Once the frost has completely melted, wipe down the inside of the fridge to remove any water droplets.
Dirty Condenser Coils
If condenser coils become clogged with dust or dirt, they won't be able to do their job properly. As a result, the fridge will have to work harder to maintain the correct temperature, which can lead to an increase in your energy bill.
To clean the coils, a refrigerator maintenance service will remove them and brush away any dirt or dust. If they're extremely dirty, the refrigerator maintenance service may need to wash them with soapy water.
Leaky Door Seal
The door seal is what keeps the cold air inside the fridge. If it's damaged, cold air can escape, causing the fridge to work harder to maintain the correct temperature. To check the door seal, simply close the door on a piece of paper. If you can pull the paper out easily, then the seal needs to be replaced.
The thermostat is responsible for maintaining the correct temperature inside the fridge. If it's not working properly, the fridge may be too cold or too warm. To test the thermostat, the refrigerator maintenance service will put a thermometer inside the fridge and check the temperature after a few hours. If it's not at the correct setting, you'll need to adjust it.
By being aware of these issues, you can catch problems early and prevent them from becoming bigger issues down the road. Contact a commercial refrigeration maintenance service, such as Ries Refrigeration, if you need help with any of the above issues.
